Whether you live here in the Philadelphia area or are planning to visit in the near future, you’d be crazy not to sign up for Amazon Local deals. I mean, what better way to come across ways to save on food, fun and more–and with deals that you might otherwise not have known about.

Just today AmazonLocal for Philadelphia included these deals:

  • $16 worth of Italian food for $8
  • 50% off Valentine’s Day flowers
  • $10 to spend on up to $40 worth of food and non-alcoholic drinks
  • one-hour massage from $35
  • hockey tickets

The one thing I’m not seeing on Amazon Local (as I have with Travelzoo and Groupon) are hotel deals–important if you’re visiting a city. I mean, I’m thinking about going to Boston in the spring for a writers conference, and I’ve been all over the deals sites today looking for hotel savings. (No luck so far!)

Anyway, thanks to one of my affiliate relationships, I’m able to offer you an easy way to sign up for Amazon Local deals today. So, subscribe for free. I don’t think you’ll regret it.

I think every kid should go to see the circus at least once. I still remember my first circus performance (at the now defunct Commack Arena on Long Island).

When the commercials started showing up recently on Philly TV stations for the upcoming Ringling Brothers circus here, my teenagers were clamoring to go see the circus again, asking if we could get Ringling Brothers tickets–I kid you not!

Right now Goldstar has Ringling Brothers tickets at a discount for the three upcoming shows at the Wells Fargo Center:

  • Wednesday, Feb. 13–$45 (instead of $63)
  • Thursday, Feb. 14–$18 to $45 (instead of $33 to $63)
  • Friday, Feb. 15–$18 to $45 (instead of $33 to $63)

Here is more about the upcoming Ringling Brothers show, courtesy of Goldstar:

See the impossible come to life as Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s new circus spectacular Built to Amaze! brings high-flying fun to the Wells Fargo Center. From the blueprints to the band, from the crates to the clowns, you’ll marvel as elephants, tigers, acrobats and aerialists from across the globe join forces in an incredible display of showmanship, precision and family fun. This three ring circus features gravity-defying acrobatics and breathtaking dare-devilry, with high-wire acts, trampolinists, magnificent animal acts, intricate choreography and more uniting in one breathtaking performance of non-stop thrills that has to be seen to be believed. Bring the whole family and experience this thrilling new production of “The Greatest Show on Earth!”

Right now I’m working on an article for a national magazine on how to save when you go on vacation. One piece of advice that I’m sure to include is stocking up on Groupon, LivingSocial, Travelzoo and other deals before you leave for the destination you are visiting.

If you are planning to visit Philadelphia in the near future–or you live here and have a green thumb–then you’ll want to check out this latest deal for Longwood Gardens discount tickets.

For the next six days you can purchase this Groupon that saves 50 percent on Longwood Gardens admission. So instead of paying $18 for one adult admission ticket, you’ll pay $9.

Here is the fine print related to this Groupon for Longwood Gardens discount tickets:

  • Expires Mar 24, 2013
  • Valid only for adult, general daily admission.
  • Not valid with any other offers or specially ticketed events, including performing arts concerts, fireworks shows, dining events, Peak Days, and retail purchases.

Camp Jeep debuts in Philly at the Philadelphia Auto Show 2013.

Car enthusiasts: are you planning to attend the Philadelphia Auto Show at the Pennsylvania Convention Center next week? If so, I have a way for you to get discount tickets.

I haven’t been to an auto show since 1995 when we were living in the Detroit area and looking for a different kind of indoor entertainment during the brutal Michigan winter. I had such a good time at that auto show that I’m surprised I haven’t been back. Well, actually, having two kids and then moving from Michigan to the Philly area two years later probably had something to do with it.

Anyway, as far as those discount tickets go, there are two ways that you can find savings.

  • Weekday discount coupons can be picked up at a new car and truck franchised dealer in the Philly area. These dealers include the Fred Beans family of car dealerships in Doylestown, Faulker car dealerships in Trevose, and Cherry Hill Volvo among others. Coupons can be redeemed at the box office at the Pennsylvania Convention Center for a $3.00 admission discount to the Auto Show.
  • The Auto Show has again partnered with McDonald’s restaurants to circulate discount coupons of $2.00 off the regular adult admission price of $12.00. Show information will be featured on the restaurants’ tray liners and in the Entertainment Value Centers located inside area McDonald’s. The Auto Show will donate $1.00 from each discount coupon redeemed at the show from Jan. 21-25 to the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House Charities.

One of the firsts at this year’s Philadelphia Auto Show is Camp Jeep, a unique interactive off-road experience within a 25,000 sq. ft. exhibit of Jeep vehicles directly on the show floor.

Toyota will be offering a similar experience. Teams of professional drivers and trained product specialists will take participants on a fun, informative and ultra-interactive demonstration drive through a more than 31,000 sq. ft. course.

Other auto manufacturers at the show include Cadillac, Chevrolet/Buick/GMC, Hyundai, Kia, and Subaru.

The 2013 Philadelphia Auto Show, produced and owned by the Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia, rolls into the Pennsylvania Convention Center at 11th and Arch Streets in Center City on Jan. 19-27. Admission costs between $6 and $12.

Throughout the month of January, two popular Philadelphia cultural institutions are offering a two for one deal on their museum admission.

For one price you can get admission to The Franklin Institute and The National Constitution Center, according to the Uwishnu website. Right now both places have hugely popular shows going on–The Franklin Institute Titanic exhibition and the National Constitution Center “American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition.”

During this two for one deal, tickets to both places cost $39. Normally, that would be admission to only one of the places. You can buy tickets online via the National Constitution Center museum tix website.

If you’re not interested in visiting the National Constitution Center but the Franklin Institute Titanic show has piqued your interest, I can help get you discount tickets to that show only. Through Goldstar, your $39 tickets will be reduced to $14.50 for weekday admissions only through January 31. That’s 50% off.
