Still looking for something to do with your kids, ages 8 to 12, this summer? You can turn to the Apple Stores for free camps in July. That is, the Apple Store offers free movie-making camps over the summer.

In these free camps, your kids will shoot video, learning how to create a soundtrack using GarageBand on an iPad, and put it all together in iMovie on a Mac. Each class is 90 minutes long, and parents are likely required to stick around at the mall or near the store while camp is in session–no dumping your kids at the Apple Store for the entire day for free childcare!

Not surprisingly these camps fill up fast–as of this writing, one of 10 camp sessions at the King of Prussia Apple Store has already filled up.

Other Apple Stores in the area offering free movie making camps include:

  • Bridgewater
  • Cherry Hill
  • Lehigh Valley
  • Suburban Square
  • Walnut Street (Center City)

(Thanks, Charlotte on the Cheap, for a heads up on this free camp!)
